Independent web development

Your business has moved on. Has your website?

SGLA rebuilds outdated, slow or restrictive websites for independent businesses, giving you a faster, better-looking website that you actually own.

Fixed price5–8 pagesTypically 2–3 weeks

Websites built properly. Without the agency.

  • Fast

Built to load quickly and work beautifully on real phones.

  • Owned

Your domain. Your hosting. Your code. No platform holding the website hostage.

  • Straightforward

One person. One project. One clear price. No bloated agency process.

Your website

It might be doing the job. But is it doing your business justice?

Your business changes. Your services improve. Your reputation grows.

But the website often gets left behind.

A site that once seemed perfectly fine can become slow, dated, awkward on mobile or simply no longer representative of the business behind it.

  • Looks behind

Your business has moved forward. Your website still looks like it hasn't.

  • Feels slow

Customers shouldn't have to wait for your website to load or fight through clutter to find what they need.

  • Feels restrictive

You shouldn't have to work around a platform just to make a simple change.

That's usually when a rebuild makes more sense than another round of patches.

The answer

Rebuild it properly.

SGLA takes the useful parts of your existing website, strips away what isn't working and rebuilds the experience around what your customers actually need.

Selected work

A few things I've built.

The Rooiberg Wander homepage, showing a sunset over the Waterberg with the headline "Three Days. The Big Five. On Foot."

Rooiberg Wander

Walking safari, Limpopo

A three-day guided walking safari in the Waterberg, South Africa.

The challenge
Selling a remote three-day trail to people who cannot visit first, often browsing on slow rural connections.
The rebuild
Built around the photography and the practical detail people actually need: the lodges, the logistics, the rates. Static pages, so it loads quickly on a weak signal.
The Ferry Café homepage, showing the blue timber café building under a bright sky with the headline "The Ferry Café".

The Ferry Café

Café, Felixstowe Ferry

Fish and chips by the River Deben at Felixstowe Ferry, serving since 1953.

The challenge
Most visitors arrive on a phone, standing outside or driving over, wanting three things: the menu, the opening hours and directions.
The rebuild
Those three answers come first, with the building and the estuary doing the selling. Ships no JavaScript at all.
The Commercial Trades Jobs homepage, showing the headline "UK Commercial FM Engineering Jobs" above a job search form.

A specialist job board for commercial facilities management engineers.

The challenge
Competing with general job boards, where specialist FM roles get buried and applying takes an account and a long form.
The rebuild
Search and filtering by trade, applications with no account needed, plus employer listings and certification guides. An application rather than a brochure site.

Ownership

You own it.

The domain is yours. The hosting account is yours. The code is yours.

If you stop working with SGLA, your website keeps working.

You can keep using it, hand it to another developer or move it somewhere else.

That's what owning your website means.

Why SGLA

I've been the client too.

Before SGLA, I spent six years building and running my own restaurant.

So I know what it's like to have your name on the business, and I know that a website isn't a technology project for the sake of technology. It needs to work for the business behind it.

That's why SGLA keeps things simple: one person, one project, one clear outcome.

How it works

No six-week discovery process.

Just a straightforward website project.

  1. Show me your website

    Send over your current site.

  2. We work out what needs changing

I'll tell you what I'd keep, what I'd change and what I'd rebuild.

  3. I build it

Design, development, content, testing and launch.

  4. You get the keys

The website goes live and the code, domain and hosting remain yours.

The offer

A proper website. One clear price.

No hidden extras and no tiers to decode. One price for a website built properly and handed over completely.

Larger or more complex websites from £2,495.

Questions

Straight answers.

Do I have to use Wix?

No. SGLA doesn't work inside Wix or Squarespace. If the existing site needs significant work, the usual solution is to rebuild it.

Do I own the website?

Yes. The domain, hosting and code belong to you.

Can you redesign my existing website?

Yes. The normal process is to rebuild it rather than patching an old platform.

How much does it cost?

The standard SGLA website is £1,795 for 5–8 pages. Larger projects start from £2,495.

How long does it take?

Most standard projects are targeted for 2–3 weeks, depending on content and feedback.

Do you provide hosting?

The website can be deployed to hosting under your ownership. SGLA can manage the technical side if you want.

What happens if I stop working with SGLA?

Your website keeps working. You own the code, domain and hosting, so you can carry on using it as it is or have another developer pick it up.

What if I need changes later?

You can make arrangements directly with SGLA or have another developer work with the code.

Do you provide SEO?

Every website includes sensible technical and on-page SEO foundations. SGLA is not selling an ongoing SEO agency service as part of the standard website.

Is your current website still doing the job?

Send it over. I'll tell you what I'd keep, what I'd change and what I'd rebuild.

If I don't think a rebuild is worth doing, I'll tell you.
